LIMA, Samuel David de.
Resumen:
This paper presents an analysis of the discursive approach to the unfolding drought in
northeastern Brazil made by SEE magazine articles published in issues 654, 780 and 1545, the
years 1981, 1983 and 1998, respectively. Taking as theoretical and methodological grant
some precepts of Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Junior and Michel Foucault are some
meaning effects caused by the images and the language used in the preparation of materials
for the purpose of demonstrating how the vehicle also becomes responsible for the
naturalization of a condition climate and continuity of discourses that support for building and
/ or reproduction of stereotypes about the region and its inhabitants. Given the scope of the
public see and therefore able to exert influence on the thinking of his readers, we call attention
to the fact that information is not synonymous with knowledge and, therefore, we propose to
discuss prejudice and stereotypes related to the people and the region present in the discourse
of the subjects, indicating how and where some flaming embers in a given moment can
continue firing.
