Resumo:
An extensive area of the Earth's surface is used to carry out agricultural activities,
with the objective of producing food, which characterizes it as the main global labor
activity. The 2017 Agricultural Census, a survey carried out on more than 5 million
rural properties across Brazil, shows that 77% of the country's agricultural
establishments were classified as family farming. In this context, it is noteworthy that
beekeeping in the aforementioned context provides the development of low
investments and low operating costs, based on ecological prudence, social equity
and economic efficiency. Therefore, this research project aims to evaluate the level
of sustainability of beekeeping production in the Municipality of Aparecida, State of
Paraíba. For its development, a bibliographic survey was carried out on the topic
under study, followed by questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 21
(twenty-one) producers from Aparecida-Paraíba. Based on this data, the quality of
life, social capital and environment indices will be calculated to then calculate the
sustainability index and evaluate the level of sustainability. Thus, at the end of this
research, the value 0.7244 was found for the level of sustainability, medium level.
Therefore, it is essential to develop mitigating measures that will support
management, planning and development of public policies.
