Resumo:
: The oil density of the two castor oil varieties (Brs-149 Nordestina and Brs-188
Paraguaçu), in the temperatures -15ºC, -10ºC, -5ºC, 0ºC, 20ºC, 40ºc, 60ºc and 80ºC, have been
evaluated. The oil densities have been determined by the picnometer method. The temperatures were
adjusted by a thermal bath and in subzero temperatures it was used a cryogenic chamber with fine
temperature control. It was concluded that the densities are in the range from 0,930 to 0,978 g/cm3
by
temperatures varying from -15°C to 80°C and the solidification of castor oil occurs at -17°C.
