Resumo:
The knowledge of an expression for determination of latent heat of vaporization H of
moisture of agricultural product is necessary for calculations of requested energy in artificial drying
processes of this product. Usually, such expression is given as a function of the latent heat of
vaporization h of free water multiplied by a function of the moisture content of the product. In this
work an expression for H is determined for yellow corn, by curve fitting. In this sense, a computer
program was developed and used, which fits automatically about 500 functions of one or two
independent variables, stored in its library, to experimental data. Statistical tests indicate that the
proposed expression gives best results than others found in the literature.
