Resumo:
This work aims at developing an action for production of a Design for Social Innovation
guided by Design Service, centered on an agroecological initiative in the city of
Teresina (PI), the Garagem Orgânica group. The research’s goal was to carry out a
detailed observation of the service system of this initiative and, based on the
information collected, co-create ideas of a strategic nature for the operation of the
examined group. This project is justified through the areas of Service Design and
Design for Social Innovation, since agroecology has been supporting the emergence
of social innovations in different regions of Brazil, often inserted in service offering
systems. By means of agroecological complexity, these services propose possibilities
for confronting contradictions and challenges arising from industrial agri-food
production that degrades the environment, maintaining indefinitely a scenario of
socioeconomic inequality and devaluation of local cultures. This work presents itself
as an applied project, having as its basis, a phenomenological approach, exploratory
objectives, abductive logic and, as a field of investigation, the method of Design
Science Research. The methodological procedure was divided into four stages: the
first stage involved analyzing the reference context of Garagem Orgânica current
service system; the second stage focused on diagnosing and co-creating exploratory
ideas based on the information collected in the previous stage; next, a strategicallyoriented
service concept was co-created, and finally, an evaluation was carried out
along with the proposition of guidelines for Agroecological Service Design. Thus, using
Service Design as a tool to implement a Design for Social Innovation process made it
possible to characterize the actions already developed by Garagem Orgânica; identify
the profile and preferences of the users of the offered services; analyze the service
system; develop evaluations of the actions already implemented by the organization;
co-create ideas for the future of Garagem Orgânica, and propose guidelines for
Agroecological Service Design.
