The Brazilian ceramic industry still presents late industrial processes, with great energy
consumption, causing a high environmental impact. The final products in your great majority are of low quality, due to inadequate processes. Inside of this context, this work seeks to evaluate results of the drying processes and it burns of ceramic plates. The plates were conformed, pressed in an only sense in the pressure of 200 kgf/cm2, with two geometry types (borders straight line and round borders). The dissertation presents experimental results of plates submitted the drying in greenhouses with different temperatures (60, 80 and 110ºC), they were certain the medium humidity tenors and the dimensional variations of the samples. The influence of the heating rate was also analyzed during the drying (1, 6, 11ºC/min), until the temperature of 110ºC, in the physical-mechanical properties of the pressed plates. After the drying with the same heating rates, bodies of proofs were burned in the temperatures of 900 and 950ºC, and soon after certain the properties physical-mechanics. Starting from the results, we obtained the curves of the drying kinetics and of shrink of the bodies of proofs submitted to the drying in the greenhouse, we verified that as smaller the heating rate in the drying better is the physical-mechanical properties of the studied bodies, as well as the bodies of proofs with straight borders possessed better properties, that the bodies with round borders.
