Résumé:
The present study had as specific goal to identify, analyze, comprehend and classify the
labor conditions in which the workers of Tomato Packing Houses (TPH) were involved with the Load
Handling Transportation (LHT). To carry out this work a preliminary study was made in a TPH of
Campinas region which, for the specific item of LHT, presented low level of technology, i.e., most of
the packing process did not have automated mechanisms and, so, the use of physical force was
necessary. For a better comprehension of the TPH working structure, the method of Working
Ergonomics Analysis (WEA) was applied, what made possible the identification of the process phases
where the LHT was predominant. For the analysis, comprehension and classification of the LHT, the
NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health – USA) equation method was used.
This method made possible to calculate and quantify the recommended limit weight in successive
tasks of load lifting, and also to identify the load and unload phase of the trucks in the TPH had
weights above the recommended limit of the NIOSH.
