Resumo:
This work aims to suggest a didactic appropriation of the song Preto demais, by
Hugo Ojuara, so that we can critically reflect on its content in the classroom, focusing
on denouncing the social impacts of racism, with a focus on the teaching practice of
Portuguese Language professionals in contributing to an Anti-Racist Education. To
this end, we ensure our discussions in the legislation that underpins the Brazilian
educational system, namely Law 10.639/03, the National Common Curricular Base
(BNCC) and the National Curricular Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial
Relations and for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture. We
base ourselves on the theoretical contributions of Ribeiro (1995), Carneiro (2005),
Almeida (2019), Bento (2022) and other authors regarding the evidence of the
dynamics of Brazilian racism; and in Sekeff (2007) in theorizing the methodological
possibilities of music as a teaching resource and its collaborations in the cognitive
development of students in Basic Education. The need for specific continuing
education in the area of Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations for teachers in Brazil is
evident, together with the development of the notion of Racial Literacy. The
discussions also aim to break paradigms regarding the application of the school
curriculum and the exercise of anti-racism in all fields of knowledge, especially in
areas that compete with the Portuguese Language.
