Resumo:
It was the objective of the present work to evaluate the efficiency of a cooling adiabatic
(evaporative) system in acclimatized aviaries. For this purpose, evaporative plates of negative
ventilation were used. The system of evaporative cooling was composed of pad cooling and negative
ventilation system obtained by means of fans, located at the opposite sides (East and West orientation,
respectively). Temperature values for dry and humid bulb, humidity and air speed data were collected
along the acclimatized aviary, at specific sites inside the house (or aviary) and in the external
environment. The efficiency of the evaporative plates was obtained calculating the rate of temperature
reduction and the evaporative cooling or saturation efficiency. The evaporative cooling system using
pad cooling resulted in low efficiency in its role to reduce the internal temperature of the aviary. The
evaporative cooling system using pad cooling plus the ventilation negative system did not provide
homogeneous temperature and air humidity inside the aviary.
