Resumo:
The wind speed is an important variable in evapotranspiration, heat exchange and
ventilation process in protected environments, but there are few works in Brazil. The aim of present
the work was to calibrate a model for wind speed estimation in a greenhouse. A set of data was
colleted in a single span plastic greenhouse, 6,4m width, 17,5m length, 3,0m eave height, 1,5m arc
height, cultivated with sweet pepper, in Piracicaba, SP, Brazil. The model estimated the internal wind
speed (Vi) by a linear function of external wind speed e opening ratio (RA) and presented a good fit
(R² = 0,81). Although the good results, regression analyses for each RA indicate that RA and Ve have
not explained all the variation of Vi. For future studies it is recommended the inclusion of other
variable in the model, such air temperature and wind direction.
