Resumo:
The existing lack in knowledge in the sector of dairy cattle has induced producers to
search new solutions to improve the level of production. Thus new forms of foreseeing the correct
time of estrus occurrence have been shown in the current literature. Then this research had the
objective to develop a model for estimating the changes of environmental data influencing estrus using
Fuzzy Logic and the software MATLAB 6.5. It was used related information to Holstein dairy cattle
reared in confinement system. The fuzzy sets of entrance were defined in previously assumed daily
intervals in accordance to the literature information, and the knowledge base of specialists. The input
variable were the Temperature of Exposition, Relative Humidity and Air speed. As output it was fixed
the Estrus detection. In the simulation possibilities the following extreme situations where assumed as
critical values causing thermal discomfort such as Temperature, UR and Wind speed. Based on this
study it was possible to conclude that software MATLAB expressed with sufficient precision real
situations; and this specific simulation may be used as a base for the development of a software that
verifies, in accordance with certain climatic conditions, which is the degree of accuracy in identifying
estrus which will reflect directly in the production costs.
