This work describes a methodology for optimum planning and control of reactive compensation in primary feeders (direct or with extensions), by an economic criterion of reduction of power losses and energy losses, through the installation of banks of shunt capacitors and / or braces). As
The physical feeder, represented by its uniform and normalized equivalent model, and knowing the daily reactive load curve, are determined, through iterative optimization procedure, the locations, nominal capacities and / or
operation of a pre-set number of capacitor banks, which will result in maximum savings (optimal economy) with losses. The economy that is obtained by reducing total losses is represented by the objective function, which is a function of the cost of reducing power losses, cost of reducing losses
energy and cost of capacitors. Through the implementation of a
computational routine, applications of the methodology are made
different systems, including systems in the Northeast Region.
