Resumen:
This dissertation has a simple and at the same time enriching premise, within the scope of
historical epistemology, as it has the premise of understanding in the present time how
practices, performances and symbologies of the Order of the Holy Cross in Aurora, in the
Cariri region of Ceará, elaborate and signify time, cosmogony and penitent religiosity. Thus,
the categories of temporalities and performances are fundamental in the analysis of this
religiosity and its intricacies, interfaces and cultural specificities. Henceforth, history and its
connection with anthropology help and weave this text together with a methodology for
analyzing imagery sources through visual culture and journalistic sources. Therefore, this text
has in its functionality to present narratives, times, beliefs, bodies, bloods, performances and
mainly history(s).
