Resumo:
Document management in public administration plays an important role in the processing of information when it is stored and made available to its various users. However, the procedures adopted by public agencies are not standardized, and each agency is responsible for establishing the guidelines to be followed, which are not always respected. This non-compliance with these guidelines and regulations ends up causing numerous problems in the stages that make up the document management process. This research sought to evaluate whether the document management practiced by the Federal Highway Police of Maranhão favors the optimization of the document process and access to information. Regarding its characterization, this research presents itself as a descriptive, documentary, applied and qualitative case study. The research site is the Document Management sector of the Federal Highway Police of Maranhão, a public security agency linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
