Resumo:
This research analyzes the social composition of the Chamber of Deputies from
the 51st to 57th legislature, by means of the description of data collected from
the TSE. The present study is based on the work Parties, Ideology and Social
Composition: A Study of the Party Banks in the Chamber of Deputies by the
author Leôncio Martins Rodrigues, published in the year 2002. This work aims to
identify which social and professional profiles have emerged in the occupation of
seats in the federal legislature during the legislatures formed between 1998 and
2022. The elected candidates were assessed in nine categories, which made it
possible to conclude the predominance of certain characteristics of the
representatives elected to exercise the office of deputies in the largest legislative
house of the country. This work used a descriptive approach from the analysis of
the selected cases. In the end, it was possible to conclude that certain social
tracks are over-represented, since the aspects that most highlighted were the
predominance of male individuals, with high levels of education and who have
politics as a profession.
