Resumo:
This paper brings a study about the profile of energetic consumption for cooking in a low-income
residential rural community, as well as more efficient alternatives for that use. The biomass is the main energy
source to those communities. It is often obtained and transported by women and children who are exposing to
health risks. A community was chose as a sample and trough some interviews it was possible to get enough data to
estimate the energetic consumption. The firewood represents 91.87% of the energy demanded to cooking it is burnt
directly, and demands by women and children at least 06 hours a week to obtain and transport. As an alternative for
demand reduce solar cooking an efficient firewood oven are suggested.
