Abstract:
Agroecosystems can be analyzed and expressed under the energy viewpoint. In that
context, the energy subject reveals the structural relationship of the system in a clear way. Cotton
planting has been outstanding in Brazilian agriculture because of its economic and social importance.
Thus, the importance of this crop was considered, and its participation in family agricultural
production observed. The present work aimed to evaluate the participation of the several energy types
employees in the soil prepare of the agroecosystem cotton in family agricultural systems. Use was
made of primary and secondary data from three family exploitations in the municipality of Leme/SP,
Brazil. The results were presented by the energy expenditure structure by source energy. The
methodology used was based on consecrated literature. It was ended that of de total of energy maid's
6.936,03 MJ for hectare in the soil prepare, it is had the participation of the 81,14% of de fossil
energy, 18,73% of industrial energy and 0,13% of biological energy. It was verified like this that the
dependence of de fossil energy in the soil prepare of the studied agroecosystem.
