Abstract:
With the increasing of the power demand in many production sectors, the searching for
renewable sources of energy, which won’t cause environmental impacts, is becoming more and more
important. Brazil is a country that shows tradition in the use of renewable sources of energy, but,
because we are a tropical country we show a huge potential to the production of biomass, being it
vegetal, from industrial residues or from residues generated by the agro industry. The treatment of
effluents through biodigestor, besides being efficient to avoid the environmental degradation,
generates as subproducts the biogas and the biofertilizer that can make the product self sufficient in
production of energy through the co-generation and it also reduce the agricultural production costs
with the use of biofertilizer in the irrigation. The economical analysis directed to the reduction of costs
with electrical power propitiated by the use of biogass, shows that the investment is worthwhile and
the time of return varies according to the rate of energy charged by the concessionary and the amount
of the initial investment. Using the biogas to the generation of electrical power and as fuel used to the
irrigation the time of return of the investment can be of only 1,8 years.
