Resumo:
Knowledge of water-soil- plant is fundamental to improved sugarcane crop
management in cane areas. The objective this work was to asses the water condition under
growing of four sugarcane varieties in Coast Mesas of Alagoas. It was installed an experiment
in in the CECA ( Agriculture science centre ) in Alagoas Federal University, state of Alagoas. It was
calculated water balances by methodo of THORNTHWAITE e MATHER (1955), with crop
evapotranspiration estimated by crop cofficients from FAO (ALLEN et al., 1998), and reference
evapotranspiration calculated by methodo of PENMAN-MONTEITH-FAO. The growing rate showed
a sigmoidal pattern in the four cane varieties, with a growing average rate of 6,6mm.dia-1. In the
second phenologic face occurred water deficits between 14 and 18, and 20 e 22 decendio with loss in
growing. The variety RB92579 obtained the highest height and the biggest yield.
