Resumo:
The aim of this Course Conclusion Paper was to analyze the work relations for resocialization
in the Cajazeiras-PB women's prison. The theoretical discussion was based on the authors
Freire (1996/2022); Ireland (2022); Julião (2007/2009/2020); Machado (2008); Onofre (2016);
Souza (2022) and Souza; Ireland (2024). The methodology consisted of qualitative field
research, using semi-structured interviews as the data collection tool. The aim was to
understand the relationship between education and work for the resocialization of women
deprived of their liberty in the Cajazeiras women's prison. We analyzed the work available in
the institution and what women deprived of their liberty think about the offer of sentence
remission through work, study and reading. The results of the research revealed that there are
a limited number of socio-educational activities that contribute to the re-socialization of women
deprived of their liberty. The jobs include cooking, general services and making balls, and
these work practices are stereotyped in terms of gender. However, the activities are developed
with the aim of restoring participatory work, but there is a need for more government programs
aimed at re-socializing these women through work practices aligned with the perspective of
youth and adult education.
