Conhecimento popular e o método científico: criando laços entre gerações através da ciência.

Abstract

Chemistry teaching brings it’s particularities with it, especially with regard to the concepts, their language and the methods used, it’s an extremely important discipline for the student's development about their critical thoughts. It’s inserted in the area of Science and it’s technologies and contributes significantly, especially in what it concerns the understanding of the phenomena that occur in everyday life and in the world. At learning difficulties presented by students nowadays have raised many questions and motivated to search for new methodologies that are effective and that instigate their curiosity and active participation. This work is a research involving popular culture and medicinal use of herbal teas through reports from people in the community of Santa Cruz-PB. The teas are used with the medicinal purpose in combating some physical ailments, the reports presented point out the health benefits of teas, based on popular knowledge and that have been passed down through past generations. It was possible to align these reports to the chemical knowledge and thus meeting the premises of the Common National Base Curriculum, in order to build scientific knowledge and thus make a interesting didactic proposal for teaching chemistry in high school.
