Resumo:
In this work was evaluated the water availability for plants in soils from consecutives
subterranean dams (in dry season, December/2004 and rainy season, April/2005). The soils samples
were collected on Angico stream, located in the medium Paraiba region, community of Paus Brancos,
rural district of Campina Grande – PB. The values of the total water available for plants were obtained
using the field capacity minus the wilting point values contained in soil. It were collected a total of
342 samples of soil, in December of 2004, 171 of them to determinate the total water quantity in the
soil. In April of 2005, the 171 samples of soil were collected again, in the same place, distanced
around 1,5m to 3m of the points where was made the previous collects, one year ago, and orientated
by pickets. In general, it was observed that the mediums values of the soil water availability in the
subterranean dams are positives, but with a detail; the values are much higher than the water
availability for plants, when it were analyzed at upstream area (witness) which had a smaller average.
