Resumo:
This work aims to automate a portable sprinkler infiltrometer which is the machine
used to determinate the water permeation velocity in earth. By automation it is meant to do the control
of the relative position between the two obturator disks during operation. This makes possible to
simulate the precipitance profile depending on variables such as geographic position. The adjust is
done by a step motor coupled on the inferior turntable disk. The advantages of using step motor is that
is possible to implement open loop control, so no sensors is necessary to generate the feedback signals.
Therefore, some precipitance profiles are stored in a memory chip, and then the microcontroller will
send command to the motor which will position the turntable disc according to the select profile. In
order to make the operation of such system easier, a human machine interface with a LCD display, and
a keyboard for rainfall precipitance selection is used.
