Abstract:
The objective of this work was evaluate the water quality in basin hidrografic Gurgueia
River for irrigation observing the possibility of the occurrence of soil salinization and sodification
processes. They were analyzed in laboratory 24 samples of water collected in the dry station of 2004.
Evaluating the concentrations of Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO3, CO3, Cl, besides the electrical conductivity,
SAR and pH was possible to verify the level of use restriction for irrigation. The results allowed to
verify that in all the points where the collection of samples was accomplished the values of the analyzed
parameters didn't present superiors to the limits established in the patterns for use of the water for
irrigation. The concentration of bicarbonate in 10 collection points presented values that classify the
water in moderated for use in irrigation demonstrating that is necessary to use techniques adapted to
avoid processes of precipitation of the calcium and consequently soil sodification.
