Resumen:
The subject of this study, The understanding of racism and anti-racist practices by a kindergarten
teacher in a municipal public school in Cajazeiras/PB, arises from my professional experiences
working with Public Policies in the Secretariat of Public Policies for Women, more specifically,
in the department of Municipal Management of Racial Equality in the municipality of Cajazeiras-
PB, where I am currently Director of Municipal Management of Racial Equality, from where I
ask myself every day, is it possible to have an education without racism? The central objective of
this study is to analyze whether there is an understanding of racism in the school environment
from early childhood education onwards, on the part of an educator from this educational sector,
from a municipal school in Cajazeiras/PB, and whether there is an understanding of the need to
act educationally based on anti-racist practices. The study was carried out at a municipal public
school in the municipality of Cajazeiras/PB. In order to cover all the objectives proposed in the
study, it was decided to carry out a descriptive study with a qualitative approach and mediated by
the scientific methodology of a field study, guided by a questionnaire-type data collection
instrument with six questions. The analysis and discussion of the data presented here aims to
promote a critical reflection on the subject and provoke a formative look on the part of the
government at its education professionals, especially early childhood education teachers, as the
basic environment for citizen training.
