Abstract:
The chemical industry is currently playing an extremely important role in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus). This is demonstrated, above all, by its indispensable role in effectively combating the spread of the pathogen, given that in addition to the use of masks, the WHO recommends the use of disinfectant products - existing in most homes - such as ethanol, soap, bleach and peroxide of hydrogen. Based on this perspective, this work aims to highlight the notoriety of chemistry as an essential means to contain Covid-19. From this, the methodology used is a bibliographic study based on the literature available online with national and international articles for a consequent investigation of the composition, concentration, characteristics and mode of action of the chemical substances that make up the disinfection items. Therefore, this research discusses not only the prevention methods used, but also the chemistry behind existing precautions against the spread of Coronavirus in order to highlight the primordial importance of its application in relation to health and social well-being as one all.
