Resumo:
The objective of this study is to show the evaluation of a profile probe for soil water
content measures in an irrigation project in the region of the Rio Largo in the state of Alagoas. The study
was accomplished in a soil classified as Latossolo Yellow Coeso Argissólico of medium texture. The soil
moisture measured by probe showed values smaller than the ones obtained by the gravimetric method
(about 7%), however the values of the probe agreed with the gravimetric method values in 90%. Thus, we
conclude that this sensor can be used to monitor the soil moisture in irrigation projects.
