Abstract:
The calibration of the thermal dissipation probe method for mesure the sapflow
of coffee tree was made in laboratory with the aid of a hydraulical system capable to print
changeable pressures for simulate the sapflow through stem. This calibration is necessary
therefore, few works has been made with species of tropical plants using this method and all it
indicates that the universal equation, currently used for the majority of the authors, cannot
directly be used with species of plants as the coffee tree. The result of this work demonstrates
that the universal equation of Granier underestimation in 30% when compared with the
equation of calibration made in laboratorial environment. It is important to mention that this
work will have a sequence that it will consist of the validation of the equation of calibration
for coffee in field conditions. Preliminary works have demonstrated that, getting a correct
calibration for coffee tree, this method can be used successfully for to calculate the individual
water consumption and, consequently, to serve as important tool in the planning and handling
of the irrigation.
