Resumo:
Water balances are of great utility for water management of agricultural crops. One
class of these balances is called climatological since they are based exclusively on atmospheric data,
while another class envolves measurements on soil surface and within the soil. The last ones are more
laborious and expensive to be carried out, so that there is an advantage in the use of climatologic
balances. For a coffee crop grown in Piracicaba/SP, Brazil, a comparison was made between the
climatologic and the field water balances, using data of two years. It was concluded that the
climatologic water balance is not equivalent to the field one
