Water management of irrigated areas need to fit the programmed schedule to entirely
supply water requirements on its different crop phenologycal development stages. It is possible to
mention adopted proceedings of soil-crop-atmosphere system components: climatic, soil or plant
measurements. Water economy of different irrigation systems begin with management optimization on
agricultural parcel. The adoption of racional management contribute to water resources economy,
energy and labor. The water amount to be applied depends on the climatic or atmospheric demand,
phenologycal phases and efficiency application of the irrigation system to be used. On this paper
methodology is applied by the use of reference evapotranspiration (ETo), the crop coefficient (kc) and
reductions coefficient (kr), distinguished on seven development stages of Coconut crop as parameters
to calculate water requirements. The objective of this paper is to show alternatives to save water on
irrigated Coconut cultivation at any season, concluding that ETo and kc are very useful to calculate
and manage irrigation programming schedule.
