Abstract:
Competitiveness is a key factor for the success of organizations, which requires the application of strategies aimed at increasing sales, revenue, quality, efficiency and productivity rates, while also seeking to reduce costs, inefficiency and wasted time. Methods Engineering is a very important area for achieving these results, which is concerned with reducing costs and optimizing process reliability. Given this, the present study aims to analyze the production times of big bags in a company in the PET flake manufacturing sector, targeting the bagging sector, through the Study of Times and Methods, in order to determine the standard time, the takt time and to conduct a study on the company's production capacity. The methodology used for the study was based on the application of process mapping techniques, Method Engineering and production capacity. The results showed the erroneous use of part of the dimension of the production sector, suggesting the creation of a new production line on site. Furthermore, the standard time of 49.294 minutes to produce a PET flake big bag and a takt time of 40.678 minutes were determined, based on the monthly demand. After defining the standard time, the sector's production capacity was evaluated at 512 big bags per month, 28.32% higher than the historical production of 399 big bags per month, and the process efficiency was evaluated at 77.93%. Improvements were also suggested for the sector, which will reduce corrective maintenance times and consequently the process lead time. Thus, from the application of the Time and Methods Study it was possible to achieve the proposed objectives, validating the efficiency of this tool and contributing significantly to the company.
