Abstract:
This current study aims at determining the humidity availability index (Índice de
Disponibilidade de Umidade – IDU) for the western region of the State of Paraná. Monthly
temperature average data in ºC from 12 regional stations, gotten from IAPAR (Instituto Agronômico do
Paraná) and from SIMEPAR (Sistema Meteorológico do Paraná) were used. Besides this data, monthly
precipitation data in mm were also utilized. Through temperature registers, referential
evapotranspiration (Eto) values were worked out through the Camargo method. The estimated Eto
values with a 75% occurrence level and the adjustments in the Gama and Lognormal probability
models were made with the help of the 6.0 version of the MATLAB R12 software. Kolmogorov-
Smirnov adherence tests were used to validate these adjustments, with a 5% probability. After all
probability model adjustments, the IDU was worked out. The monthly Eto series from the western
region of Parána were well represented by the Gama and Lognormal distributions. In relation to the
IDU, none of the assessed stations presented hydric deficit and 10 out of 12 stations presented hydric
excess in a certain month of the year.
