Abstract:
The work was carried in the experimental fields of Embrapa Cassava & Fruits, in Cruz
das Almas, Bahia State, with the objective of evaluating water distribution and extraction in the root
zone of banana crop irrigated by different drip systems The work consisted of monitoring soil water
content in a plane along crop row from the plant, where TDR probes were installed according to a grid
0f 0.20 m x 0.20 m, limited by the distance from plant of 1.10 m and by the depth of 0.80 m. Each
irrigation system resulted in a different soil water distribution and extraction, The zones of more
intense extraction matched to the ones of higher soil water contents. The soil water monitoring should
be done at distances from plant less than 0.30 m and at depths up to 0.30 m
