Resumo:
This Final Course Work (TCC) is a monograph that aims to investigate the teaching perception
about the contributions of games and play to the integral development of children in Early
Childhood Education in a municipal school, located in Cajazeiras-PB. It is relevant to research
this topic so that undergraduates and teachers who already work in basic education identify
and understand the multiple contributions that the use of games and play brings to the integral
development of children, as long as it is developed with intentionality. It is characterized as a
basic research with a qualitative approach and descriptive character. Structured interviews and
non-participant and unsystematic observation were used as data collection instruments in two
Early Childhood Education classes. For the literature review, academic works researched on
the Scielo and Google Scholar platforms were used. As a result, it was found that the teachers
present theoretical knowledge, albeit superficially, about the contributions of games and play
in the classroom and in the development of the student in its different dimensions. In general,
the teachers demonstrate intentionality when using games and play in the classroom. While
one teacher seeks to develop students' imagination, reasoning, pleasure and skills, the other
uses these resources as a strategy to control students' presence, attention and adaptation in
the school environment. It was possible to notice that both recognize the importance of games
and play in the school environment, however, their intentions need to be clearer and more in-
depth. In view of this, the need for initial and ongoing training for teachers working in Early
Childhood Education becomes clear, considering that training is an ongoing process that
involves various specific knowledge and skills that change according to society.
