Resumen:
This work was realized in the experimental area of SIPA (Integrated System of
agroecological production), localized in Seropedica municipality, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, in order
to evaluate the efficiency of water use in Bell Pepper crop, cultivated at conventional (CS) and direct
(DS) system of seeding. The conventional system consisted of soil preparation with rotative hoe
coupled to micro-tractor and the direct planting, in the occupation of the area with pré-cultivation,
using the consortium sorghum and crotalaria. In the two planting systems the culture was irrigated by
aspersion and the handling of the water in the soil was accomplished using the methodology of TDR.
The system DS increased the efficiency in the use of the water (USA) for the culture, reducing in 47.7
mm the applied sheet during his/her cycle, in relation to CS. The handling of the irrigation using TDR,
it provided to USA medium of 4,3 kg m-3, above the strip of values 1,5 to 3,0 kg m-3, proposed by the
international literature.
