Abstract:
One to the problems generated by the salinity and economic importance of the melon
crop for the State of Rio Grande do Norte, the information regarding soil salinization is indispensable.
The present work had as objective to evaluate the effects of the use of two waters of low and high
salinity (ECw = 0.80 and 3.02 dS m-1) in the soil under melon cultivation (cultivar Goldex and Orange
Flesh). The experiment was conducted at Santa Julia Farm, in the municipal district of Mossoró - RN.
The experimental was consideration a 2x2 on factorial scheme, arranged in a completely randomized
block design with 4 replications soil samples were collected at 0-10, 10 -20 and 20 – 40 cm depth 24,
45, and 63 days after sowing (DAS) in three in which the electrical conductivity in the of soil
saturation extract was determined. The salinity of the soil did not differ one effect of cultivar and the
saline water (3,02 dS m-1) proportionate more than the double of the salinity in the soil in comparison
to water of low salinity (0,8 dS m-1)
