Résumé:
The objective of evaluating technique and economically the use of the drip irrigation
system, in the culture of the coffee in the region of Lavras-MG, an experiment with to cultivate Acaiá
MG-1474, implanted in a spacing of 3,0 x 0,6 m. A randomized block design with 5 treatments (L0 =
without irrigation, L1 = 100%, L2 = 80%, L3 = 60% and L4 = 40% of the Evaporation of the Tanque
Classe A – ECA) and 4 replications. For accomplishment of the economic analysis, the data of
production of the first four accumulated crops were used, 1998/1999, 1999/2000, 2000/2001 and
2001/2002. The analysis of the costs of the irrigated orchard was based on the theory of the production
costs. There was good technical efficiency, once the medium productivity of the treatments was 79, 71,
68, 63 and 51 bags per hectare, for L1, L2, L3, L4 and L0, respectively. Considering the price of the
bag of coffee for R$92,50, the analyzed economic situation showed this level of price does not sustain
an economical coffee production with or without irrigation. To adopt anyone of the irrigated
treatments, the enterprise it can only be sustained in the short period, not taking into account the
remuneration of the capital and the replacement of part of the fixed resources. It is constituted in a
descapitalization process of productor.
