Resumen:
The purpose of the present essay is to verify the occurrence frequency of water deficit
for the district of Lages-SC. The water balance has been realized monthly during a period of 77 years
of meteorological observations and soil capacity of water storage varying from 15 to 300 mm. The
biggest deficit frequencies have been verified in the months of March and April, with average values
of 27.57 and 23.91%, respectively. The biggest excess frequencies have been verified in the months of
July and October , with average values of 95.39 and 92.86%, respectively. The biggest balance
frequencies have been verified in the months of March and November, with average values of 11.13
and 10.83%, respectively. With obtained results it concludes that for all soil capacity of water storage,
the biggest deficits occurrence frequencies were verified in periods in which the agricultural activity is
more intense in the region and, the excesses, in periods in which the agricultural activity is less intense.
