Resumo:
This work addresses the contributions of Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA) to
the inclusion of children with disabilities in regular education, considering the
challenges faced, the resources available in Multifunctional Resource Rooms (MRR),
as well as teacher training. The general objective of the research was: to investigate
the importance of Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA) for the inclusion of
students with disabilities in school. To achieve this goal, the following specific
objectives were outlined: to analyze teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of SEA
in promoting the inclusion of students with disabilities, to identify the challenges
encountered in the Multifunctional Resource Room (MRR), and to assess the impact
of SEA on the inclusion and academic development of students with disabilities. The
methodology applied was qualitative, with semi-structured interviews conducted with
teachers from a public school in the municipality of Sousa - PB, which has a specialized
educational assistance room. The results show that Specialized Educational
Assistance is essential for the inclusion of children with disabilities, as it contributes to
their social and academic development. The lack of material and pedagogical
resources, the increasing demand for children to be attended by SEA professionals,
as well as the lack of professional recognition, are some of the challenges that hinder
the better functioning and service provision of professionals working in this space
within the school.
