Abstract:
The knowledge about soil contaminant transport is important for designing waste
disposal facilities and for environmental impact studies about soil and subsurface water contamination
by chemical products. This study objective was to develop a software (BTCFIT) that allows
breakthrough curve fitting by setting values to soil solute transport parameters. Soil transport
parameters values are analytically determined by optimizing model parameter to experimental values.
Results from the BTCFIT were compared to CXTFIT results showing a satisfactory performance.
Results indicate that BTCFFIX is one more tool available for soil solute transport parameter fitting.
BTCFIX can be used on computer models and research studies aiming to predict the transport of
solutes applied thought irrigation water or the transport of other chemical products presenting potential
environmental impact.
