The process of eating involves several steps. It begins when food is taken to the mouth and goes to other organs in this system that begin to work in the process that goes from grinding food to absorbing nutrients. Due to the various diseases and critical swallowing problems, medical conduct and hospitalization are necessary, requiring gastric catheterization to maintain organic function and improve health. In this case, the nurse must have sufficient knowledge to perform gastric and enteral catheterization, so that nutritional therapy can be performed, since the nurse has support for this procedure. However, it is important to know if there are gaps in the knowledge learned by these professionals since their training as undergraduate nursing students about the insertion of gastric and enteral tubes. Objective: to identify the knowledge of nursing students about gastric and enteral catheterization after taking the Semiology and Semiotics II course. Method: Descriptive exploratory study with a quantitative approach. The study will comply with the requirements of Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Health Council, which approves the regulatory standards for research involving human beings, supported by the substantiated opinion of the Ethics and Research Committee, number: 6,964,894, issued in August. Results: The study achieved high adherence among nursing students, who demonstrated significant knowledge about gastric/enteral catheterization, and answered all the questions in the instrument. It was observed that undergraduates have gaps in knowledge, especially regarding safety and confidence in performing the gastric catheterization procedure. This deficit can be attributed to the limited workload of practical work offered in nursing courses, which directly impacts the development of necessary skills and the safety of both students and patients. Conclusion: It can be inferred that it contributes significantly to the improvement of students' training, encouraging them to seek continuous improvements in their learning processes by proposing the incorporation of innovative pedagogical methodologies, ensuring a more solid and safe training, favoring the development of skills and the safety of students, preparing them more effectively for the clinical challenges of the health area.
