Resumen:
The yellow passion fruit is a demanding culture in water and, under protected
cultivation, the irrigation should be used for the supply. The cultivation of the passion fruit plant in
protected atmosphere is not a common activity, being necessary the research under this condition,
especially about the irrigation. However, several authors harmonize that in these cultivation
conditions the production period can be larger, as well as larger the productivity and quality of the
fruits. Seeking to define methods for the handling of the irrigation for yellow passion fruit plant,
this work was led to evaluate the effect of the different tensions of water in the soil about the quality
behavior of the culture in atmosphere protected and field in the area of Lavras-MG. The experiment
was installed vegetation home and field in the experimental area of the Engineering-UFLA with
experimental design in randomized blocks and four replications. The treatments were constituted of
four tensions of water in the soil preset in 15, 30, 45 and 60 kPa, to the depth of 0.20 m. The
obtained results allowed to end that: there was not significant effect of the irrigation sheets on the
variables analyzed for protected atmosphere and of field. There was not significant effect of the
irrigation sheets on the studied variables. The largest weight, length and medium diameter of the
fruits in protected atmosphere and in the field they were obtained for a tension of 45 kPa.
