Abstract:
The main characteristic of pesticides is toxicity. This effect has caused, since its introduction in Brazil, many contaminations in the environment, in pulverized crops and, logically in man. In this process, the vulnerability of rural workers, who in direct and routine contact with a contaminated workplace, are still more vulnerable to these toxic products during their handling. The international literature is unequivocal as to the deleterious effects on the health of these individuals and due to the magnitude of the problem, contaminations by pesticides constitute a serious public health problem. This study, through a review of the literature, aims to investigate the relationship between the use of pesticides and the repercussions on the health of rural workers, presenting results of some studies published in the country.
