Résumé:
The present work aimed to evaluate the effects of inflation pressure variation in a
Goodyear 23.1-30 Dyna Torque II agricultural tire, on tire contact area with the soil and on deformed
soil volume, under static conditions. Three inflation pressures were evaluated: 50% of the
recommended pressure; the normally recommended pressure; and 50% above the recommended
pressure. A new methodology was proposed to evaluate soil deformation, by which soil volume was
evaluated by molding the tire marks imprinted in a sand box. The results allowed to conclude that the
proposed methodology is reliable; inflation pressure variations and tire contact area with the soil have
inverse but not proportional behaviors, while tire contact area and soil volume deformed by the tire
have similar behaviors.
