This work had as goal evaluate the losses in the harvest mechanized of the culture of the
bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), in agricultural properties in the Campos Novos Region – SC. It decided
accomplish this work knowing that the losses in the harvest of the bean in lots of cases introduce high
indices, generating thus prejudices, as well as wastes for the producers. The losses evaluation was
accomplished in the field, collecting itself the grains at the moment of the harvest in normal terms of
operation of the harvester, accomplishing itself the separation of the grains lost, obtaining itself the
weight of the same and converting itself the value found in loss for unit of area, or in percentage from
the grains total lost and percentage of the average productivity. To characterize the experiment were
collected data of stature of the plants and height of insert of the first husk and humidity of the grains at
the moment of the harvest. The found losses were above of the value recommended for rice, corn and
soy bean, by the rehearsals held in CENEMA-MA from 1,8 to 5,16% to auto-propelled harvesters.
