Resumo:
This work is part of the effort to understand the productive trajectory of family irrigators of Sume-PB Irrigated Perimeter after the cessation of irrigation activities occurred at the beginning of the 1990s. Considering that in 1960 and 1970 irrigation was presented as a policy of public intervention to solve the problem of water scarcity in Semiarid of the northeast, this policy was implemented by Codevasf and DNOCS from geographically defined areas. For the implementation of Irrigated Perimeters DNOCS would select farming families to take lots and become irrigators. To facilitate the families productive trajectory study of PIS we looked for through interviews structured with key informants and use of questionnaires, beyond the documentary reasearch identify and reflect on the different production strategies adopted by family irrigators over the last 20 years considering the cessation of assistance actions to the PIS performed by DNOCS, including the control and monitoring of irrigation activities. As theoretical and conceptual references this monograph is part of a key analysis of the efforts of modernization and development from authors such as CelsoFurtado, Otamar de Carvalho and Marcel Burzstyn. The research allowed to infer that despite the difficulties the settlers continue producing in batches, using irrigation by gravity (drip) and developing agricultural and livestock activities for commercialization. Among the produced crops the tomato stands out, which is the most profitable product in the market.
