Resumo:
Social relations in Early Childhood Education present specificities as a social context. The
age, gender of children, the reality of public or private schools, and the conceptions of
teachers and school agents are all aspects that can contribute to different experiences in Early
Childhood Education. These factors permeate conflict situations, the forms of resolution, and
the teaching mediations that will be adopted. In view of this, the following problem arises:
What are the conceptions of teachers about conflict situations and their resolutions among
children in the context of Early Childhood Education? The general objective is to analyze the
conceptions of Early Childhood Education teachers regarding conflict situations and their
resolutions among children. Furthermore, it aims to identify whether conceptions vary
according to the age, gender of the child, whether they occur in public or private institutions,
and what forms of mediation are used. Forty Early Childhood Education teachers of children
aged two to six from public and private institutions in Campina Grande - PB participated in
the research. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed according to Content
Analysis. The teachers indicated that the causes of conflicts were social, maturational and
emotional. They indicated that conflicts occur in the following ways: verbal, physical,
exclusion and denial. There was a predominance of variations in situations and conflict
resolutions when the data were organized according to the variable age of the children.
Regarding the mediation of the teachers, there was a greater variation according to the context
in which the educator worked, than according to the age or gender of the child. Therefore, it is
necessary to look at the variables that make up Early Childhood Education (age, maturational,
contextual, gender factors, conflicts, etc.) so that there is a real commitment to the quality of
relationships between children, promoting an environment truly dedicated to their integral
development.
