Abstract:
The pharmaceutical sector is characterized by significant movements in global economies.
However, it faces challenges in inventory management, especially with losses related to product
expiration. The loss of pharmaceutical items due to expiration generates impacts throughout the
consumption chain of the sector, since this type of adversity can result in financial impacts for
companies, as well as health risks for the population. Thus, the objective of this study is to
reduce losses related to expired products in a pharmacy chain originating in the state of Paraíba
through inventory management, as well as the analysis of results using Microsoft Power BI
software, to later assist in the company's decision-making. The methodology adopted to
construct the results was applied in nature, quantitative in approach, exploratory in objectives,
and in relation to technical procedures, the study is framed as bibliographic research and case
study. In view of this, the study was carried out in four stages: the construction of the literature
review, the analysis of the company's inventory management to structure the database, the
creation of dashboards, and the analysis of the results obtained. The results showed that 52.77%
of the items relocated were sold before the expiration date, resulting in a revenue of
R$149,616.54 for the pharmaceutical chain. In addition, it was possible to identify that, through
the process, the grocery and dairy line moved the highest value of products close to expiration,
triggering an alert in relation to these products. With this, it can be seen that the proposed
approach presents operational efficiency, being effective in reducing losses and optimizing
inventory management. In addition, it also highlights the use of the Microsoft Power BI tool,
which has proven to be an effective tool in data processing, proposing valuable insights for
decision making.
