Abstract

This paper aims to verify the level of water pollution in order to define the costs for removing the pollution load from the economics activities of the perennial region of the Capibaribe River, Brazil. Outcomes show that the studied area is suffering a deterioration process caused by the release of effluents from economic activities. In the fourteen analyze sector, the generated BOD is 37 times higher than the acceptable by Brazilian Legislation (CONAMA Resolution 357/05).
