Resumo:
In the last decades, the casting of great bulks of roughs sewer has prejudiced of
the quality of the water resources, known process as eutrophication. Considering the
important paper of retention of the phosphates in the control of the eutrophication, this study
it esteem the capacity of retention of phosphorus for the plants, using the system of natural
treatment, the stream beds cultivated with water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes). This aquatic
plant was chosen by its great capacity of retention of pollutants, as nutrient, heavy metals, etc.
The results had shown that the system of stream bed cultivated with water hyacint revealed
efficient how much to the phosphorus retention, being average retention 43%, with time of
hydraulical detention of approximately 2 days and daily average retention of 21%.
